A selected exhibition of 25 –50 works on paper and preparatory studies. The exhibition aims to open up a discourse around the value of work made straight off or in the early stages of the art making process. In doing so we hope to  highlight the position of initial research in a survey of U.K based arts practice.

Part of the shows aim is to put the  modernist notion of the sketch under the microscope, offering a chance to critique and re-evaluate it beyond an unquestioning fetishistic notion of the ‘spontaneous art product’. The exhibition will provide an opportunity to examine the intrinsic worth of work that may be present in sketches scrawls and doodles which form part of initial thinking in the art making process and gauge the stand point that deems initial research more credible than ‘completed’ work.
